Andrea Watson-James is the Chief Executive Officer of RCI. As an independent consultant, Andrea provided Organizational Development and Management Training, Program and Project Management and Evaluation, Strategic Planning and Operations Optimization services. She has worked extensively in the Caribbean and in the US.
Andrea holds degrees from the University of Guyana and the University of the West Indies, including a Master of Business Administration (Distinction) from UWI Cave Hill, Barbados.She also has a Diploma in Professional Shipping (Norwegian Shipping Academy), studied extensively in the fields of Air Transportation Planning, Management and implementation (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA), Project Planning, Implementation, Monitoringand Evaluation (Carleton University, Canada) and management of information systems and technology (National University, Singapore).Andrea completed the Advanced Organizational Development/Human Resource Management (ODHRM) program at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, USA.She is a trained Trainer, completed the Facilitation Skills Workshop under the auspices of Development Dimensions International (DDI) and is qualified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) (Otto Kroeger and Associates, Fairfax, VA).
Having completed her basic and advanced PV training and courses in PV permitting documentation and Solar Sales, Andrea is in the process of obtaining her certification from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) and as an Eligible New York (NYSERDA) installer for residential and commercial photovoltaic systems.
Andrea worked extensively in the Caribbean, notably with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, a premier development organization in the region. For several years, she headed the transportation policy efforts at the Secretariat which included the coordination of the development of the Caribbean regional transport policy.Her last internal position was Program Manager, Organizational Development where she managed two successful, consecutive donor funded capacity development programs which benefited the Secretariat and groups and sectors in its Member States.
Since 2000, Andrea has been a member of the adjunct faculty and teaches Behavioral Sciences and Negotiation Skills at the Cave Hill School of Business (CHSB), University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados.She was trained in the Design and Delivery of Online Courses (eCollege) and currently facilitates the CHSB Courses online.She also was an Instructor with the CorporateTrainingCenter, CentralFloridaCommunity College.
With in excess of 20 years professional experience, she has undertaken management consulting projects, including in strategic planning, organizational development, institutional strengthening, program and project management, outplacement training and work planning.She has worked in a range of different sectors and industries.
Andrea is a member of the Organizational Development Network (ODNetwork), the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS).
